1920s Japanese Painted Wood Tray - Samurai WarriorUnited States, West Virginia, Reverend H. L. Hayes, ca. early 20th century CE. A carved wooden figural pair of men engaged in a hold up, the armed robber wearing a stovepipe hat and much taller than the other who holds his hands up. Humorously, the side view, the man's gun presents a rather phallic appearance. Both are attached to a base that is inscribed "Rev. H.L. Hayes W. Va." Size: 4.75" W x 8.125" H (12.1 cm x 20.6 cm)
