Description
DESCRIPTION: Late 19th century Double Irish Chain quilt in pink, green, with purple popsicle pattern and brown stripes. Circa 1880-1910. Backing is muslin with thin edging. PROVENANCE: Listed in The Cumberland County, PA Quilt Documentation Project. The Quilt Documentation Project, led by The LeTort Quilters Guild in cooperation with the Cumberland County Historical Society documented vintage quilts of Cumberland County. The project gathered information, images, and stories of vintage quilts, quilt makers, and quilt making to preserve history of quilting in the county and culminated with the publication of the book “Quilts of Cumberland County : 1700s to 1970.” MEASUREMENTS: 89" x 90". CONDITION: Tag from Documentation project on underside of one corner. Minor toning throughout consistent with age and use.
