Description
A Concord Railroad brass top bell bottom lantern made by Adams & Westlake in Chicago. This lantern features a "spin-down" globe retainer in the very top. The brass top is nice with minimal denting. One very nice thing is the fat A&W lettering spelling out CONCORD RR on the lid. This is a #39 size frame. The frame has a twist off bell and it is missing its fount and burner. This should be a glass fount with a tin collar that comes up one half of the height of the fount. This is not an easy thing to find but it's not a holy grail either. You could also substitute some other glass fount and only a few guys would knit-pick you about it. The metal is very nice and this frame would definitely clean up. The bottom of the bell has the ornate Adams & Westlake patent ring. The globe is a free blown (not cast) #39 and it is fatter than most. It has no railroad marking on it. It's a pinch to get it into the frame. There is a flake off the top of the globe. Do NOT over tighten the globe retainer and further flakes can be avoided.
