Description
Greece, Tanagra, Boeotia, ca. 4th century BCE. This is a beautiful, graceful example of a mold made pottery votive figure. This is a female figure with her hair up in a curly bun, a common style for Greek women, and she wears a himation (a mantle or wrap worn by Greek men and women) over her body. Her pose is dynamic, with bent limbs and her head cocked to one side. Figures like these would have been sold outside of temples by artisans who mass-produced them; they were taken into the temples and placed as votive offerings. Comes with custom stand. Size: 2.5" W x 7.25" H (6.4 cm x 18.4 cm)
