A Continental Silver-Plated Butter Dish with Cow Finial, late 19th century
5 inches high x 7-3/4 inches diameter (12.7 x 19.7 cm) (including handles)

The butter dish, likely of French or English origin, having reticulated domed lid surmounted by resting cow finial, base with Greek-key border to rim embellished with bull-and-ring handles, conforming reticulation to lower body, milk glass insert to interior, raised on Empire-style reeded lotus and paw feet.

Apparently unmarked, light wear to plating to interior elements from contact with insert, light fleabiting to insert indicative of use, otherwise presenting well with surface scratches commensurate with age, polishing, and use.
