Ephemera related to the USS Nautilus (SSN-571), touted as the World’s First Nuclear Powered Ship, by the United States Navy. The Nautilus has been a point of pride for the USA and our Military since it’s inception and while decommissioned it remained open to visitors and tourists to Mare Island. Items in this lot include: 1) A 1st day cover post card from the Sept. 30th, 1979 and March 3rd, 1980 decommissioning of the SSN-571 at Mare Island. 5 in X 9 in 2) Mare Island March 3rd, 1980 program from the decommissioning ceremony, two copies, both include misprints. 6 in X 9 in folded pamphlet. 3) A black and white glossy aerial photo of the SSN-571 underway and at sea. Marked on back “U.S. Navy Official Photograph” 8 in X 10 in 4) A 12-page black and white visitors’ booklet about the SSN-571. 5 ½ in X 8 in 5) “Integrity …plus” a flyer from October 28th, 1959 at the Navy Shipyard, Portsmouth, N.H. from H.G. Rickover, of the US Atomic Energy Commission, stating his desire for “Integrity …plus, craftsmanship and pride in the Nuclear Components labor force. 5 ½ in X 8 ½ in 6) A 3 page program from the April 9th, 1983 “ Birthday Ball, 83rd Anniversary of the U.S. Submarine Service.” 5 ½ in X 8 ½ in
