Description
A large Egyptian wood ‘mummy mask’, Late Period, c. 664 – 30 BC, the facial portion from the lid of a sarcophagus, with nice facial detail and part of the central headdress. The face is carved in pleasant style with much preserved pigment remaining. H: 10 ¼ in (26cm),W: 9 1/5 in (23.3cm). Ex South London private collection; Sotheby's July 1964 sale, lot 122.
