As one of the founders of the Charleston Renaissance, Alfred Hutty helped initiate a cultural revival in the early 20th century after the city's lull in progress following the Civil War. This rare print pictures the Footlight Player's Workshop, Charleston's oldest community theater group housed in a former cotton warehouse. Hutty's love for Charleston is expressed by these famous words he cabled to his wife upon his first visit: "Come quickly. Have found heaven."
