Two large ecclesiastical documents, manuscripts in Latin on parchment [Rome, dated 1741 and 1752] Two very large single sheets: (a) Papal bull of Benedict XIV for the bishop of Alessandria, Piedmont, enforcing the primacy of the church of Alessandria, 44 long lines, initials formed of florid foliage in upper margin and turn-up at foot, other foliage forming border in left-hand margin, various endorsements at foot and on reverse, lead bulla attached with original string, overall good condition, 520+90 by 730mm.; (b) decree of the General Superior of the Jesuit Order concerning a construction dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin and St. Elizabeth in the church in the Jesuit College in Saluzzo, 34 long lines in a fine calligraphic hand, endorsed by Ignatius vicecomes and one Johannes at base, names in ornamental capitals, one large initial, set within ornate borders on three sides of stylised foliage, a scallop shell and the divine monograms, seal under white paper at base, folds, else good, Italy, dated 16 February 1752, 520 by 690mm.
