Description
Central Asia, Nepal, early 20th century CE. A hand-carved wooden human figure, seated, with knees up, elbows leaning on knees, and hands pressed together under the chin. The figure's body is slender, but it has a disproportionally large head and prominent nose. Figures of this type are guardians, found on houses in Nepal. As with this example, their hands are held in the Namaste gesture of prayer, respectfully greeting all who see them. Comes with custom stand. Size: 3.4" W x 16.4" H (8.6 cm x 41.7 cm); height on stand: 17.6" (28.3 cm).
