Description
AMERICAN LINEN PLAIN-WEAVE HAND TOWEL / SHOW TOWEL, with cross-stitch embroidery and fringe, rectangular, with fringe to bottom edge, and five groups of four horizontal strips woven in the ground, each group being approximately 9" apart; design featuring two horizontal lines of embroidery, each line beginning with geometric shapes and the letters of the name "Anna Diefenbaugh [Diffenbaugh]" are worked in groups of two, each group separated by a flowering plant. Likely Pennsylvania. First half 19th century. 59" x 17 1/2" OA.
Excellent condition with good condition of color on threads.
