PENNSYLVANIA DATED LINEN PLAIN-WEAVE HAND TOWEL / SHOW TOWEL, with cotton and wool cross-stitch, running-stitch and insertion-stitch embroidery, twill-weave tabs and fringe, rectangular, top edge turned to the front to create flap, with self-fringe to the flap, bottom panel with fringe attached, side edges hemmed, with twill hanging tabs; design on the top flap features sawtooth border, signature and date "Susanna Huber" with "1832" between the first and last name; cross-stitch border and three rows of motifs, the center row having floral wreath flanked by flowering baskets, the rows above and below having a variety of smaller motifs, including trees and birds, the three bands of three rows of running stitch separate body of towel above first bottom fringe having row of motifs including heart, two women, stars and flowers. Likely Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania. Dated 1832. 62 1/4" x 16 1/2" OA.
