A most unusual lid latch makes this old lantern stand out. It has a tin top and five point stars for both intake and vent areas. It must be an old model with the skirted base. The pinch pot has a Sangster on the bottom and the metal is not a good match to the frame so I think that's a replacement. The lid latch has a fixed brass catch and a spring wire on TOP of the lid. I don't ever remember seeing something like this before. The globe is a standard New England size barrel (2 1/2", 3 1/2", 6" hi) but it's free blown and not molded. The metal shows pitting and there were no patent or manufacturing markings other than Sangster on the pot.
