Africa, Sudan, Dinka Peoples, ca. 1st half of 20th century CE. Lovely carved wooden headrest in abstract animal form - actually reptilian. Long thin medium-colored wood with distinct "saddle" head support, enhanced with added brass tacks and braided cord. Has the most marvelous silky patina from years of use! Size: 26.25" L x 10.5" H (66.7 cm x 26.7 cm)
