Description
**First Time At Auction**
Magna Graecia, southern Italy, Apulia, ca. 340 BCE. A lovely vessel decorated via the red-figure technique with added fugitive yellow/white details, featuring a winged Eros in profile on bended knee toward the left (facing right), holding a garland in his left hand, with fabulous wings outstretched behind and a stylized blossom above his legs. On the opposite end below the handle is a large, stylized palmette. The neck is further adorned with a register of repeated open-petaled flowers. On the base are concentric red and black circles. A very nice example! Size: 3.5" W (from handle to opposite end) x 3.625" H (8.9 cm x 9.2 cm)
Provenance: private Orange County, California, USA collection, acquired before 2000
