Description
1754-1843, polychrome painted steel dial with Roman numerals, phase of the moon in lunette, over cut-out world hemispheres, roses in spandrels, face signed Henry Hahn/Reading, seconds dial above and calendar aperture below center, original cut steel hands. Brass weight driven English bell strike movement with original weights and pendulum. Cherry case with broken arch topped bonnet with turned rosette terminals and turned finials on plinths, birds-eye maple tombstone door with inlaid rosewood diamond form key escutcheon, flanked by full turned columns, front and rear with turned capitals and plinths, Gothic arched glazed side lights. Waist with inset crotch grained cherry door with rosewood diamond shaped key escutcheon and cock beaded edges, flanked by spiral turned quarter columns with turned capitals and plinths, cove molding above and below. Base with inset panel front and matching quarter columns as waiste, over Hepplewhite feet and scrolled apron, poplar secondary wood, 20 1/4 x 11 x 92 1/2" high.
