Description

1810-1813, Plymouth, Conn., poplar case in original black and gold painted finish. Wood polychrome painted dial with Roman numerals, lidded urn with floral and laurel wreath surround in lunette, spandrels with flower spays, signed on face Thomas & Hoadley. Wooden weight driven 30 hour works with original weights, lacking pendulum. Case with flat top bonnet with tombstone door, flanked by full turned columns with turned capitals and plinths. Waist with inset door trimmed in gold, cove molding at top and bottom. Base with matching gold trim and cut-out Hepplewhite style feet and scrolled apron, 18 1/4 x 9 1/2 x 82 1/2" high.
