Description
Pre-Columbian, Valley of Mexico, Aztec Empire, ca. 1400 to 1521 CE. A beautiful, hand-built terracotta tripod bowl on three rattle legs. The vessel is adorned with a bold target-like motif on the interior comprised of a large black ring against a red ground. This is complemented by an incised, scalloped motif over a red band on the exterior walls, which is bordered by a black band just beneath the rim and orange terracotta below. Rattles contained within the legs produce a lovely percussive sound. Functional, attractive, and musical! Size: 6" W x 3.125" H (15.2 cm x 7.9 cm)
