Description
**First Time At Auction**
Roman Empire, ca. 1st to 4th century CE. Three beads depicting menorahs from ancient Rome, including a translucent blue-green glass pendant depicting a seven-lamp (six branches plus the central one) menorah upon a depression on its round form with an integral glass suspension loop, another of glass that has darkened, and a third of grey lead. The menorah was historically used by Moses in the sanctuary he established in the wilderness and later in the famous Temple of Jerusalem. A nine-lamp variation of the menorah is traditionally used for the observance of Chanukah (Hanukah). A trio of Judaica pieces bearing the likeness of a symbol of Judaism that originated in ancient times - that is also the featured emblem on the coat of arms for modern-day Israel. Condition
Losses to peripheries of lead and darker glass bead, both with earthen deposits in recessed areas. A few difficult to see internal fissures to translucent green bead. Though suspension cord in photo is not included, this pendant is ready to string.
