Description
Magna Graecia, South Italic, ca. 4th century BCE. A fine cast bronze pyxis with a corseted lower body and a tiered, conical upper section, decorated with a raised segmented pattern. The pyxis form was created throughout the ancient Near East and the Classical world, originally made to hold cosmetics, trinkets, or jewelry. This example presents an intriguing shape and gorgeous green and russet patina. Size: 3.375" in diameter x 3" H (8.6 cm x 7.6 cm)
