Edith Bolling Wilson (1872-1961) First Lady. 5” x 8” autograph letter signed, “Edith Bolling Wilson Mrs. Woodrow Wilson,” three-pages, personal mourning stationery, November 28, 1924, to President Calvin Coolidge. “…I am coming directly to you with a matter very personal and vital to me reassured by your unfailing sympathy and understanding. It is in regard to the Presidents Flags which were given to Mr. Wilson at the time of his two inaugurations. Mr. Wilson’s understanding was that the flags…became his personal property…the flags were left at the White House…I wish to place them over the sarcophagus at the Cathedral…remember me to Mrs. Coolidge….” There is a White House docking stamp at the upper right.
