Description
From their exceedingly isolated and remote habitat in the Philippines comes this richly colored Damselfly Study by artist, naturalist and bestselling author Christopher Marley. These specimens are a rich brown and iridescent blue and green as found in nature, with a pair whose wings faded, reflecting their advanced age at the time they were reclaimed. Damselflies are an ancient group, having existed since at least the Lower Permian Period, about 250 million years. They are predatory; both nymphs and adults eat other insects. Males and females differ little, though coloration can vary somewhat from emerald to light blue to true, deep cobalt blue with mottled coloration occurring in some specimens. Hermetically sealed. Framed 16"x20" White Mat with Black Frame. ; Artist: Christopher Marley ; Country of Origin: United States ; Issued: 2013
