Maryland. 50 Shares Capital Stock Issued and Cancelled Certificate, Black print on black border, Locomotive in profile at top with allegorical women at each top corner, POC's along bottom, Fine-VF condition, Toppan, Carpenter, Casilear & Co. Signed by John Hopkins the major entrepreneur, abolitionist and philanthropist. He founded many organizations and institutions most notable Johns Hopkins University and Hospital. At the start of the Civil War one of the first campaigns was planned at his home. He continually gave money and use of his railroad to the Union Army.
