Description
A fine Quimbaya male figure from the Middle Cauca region of Colombia, c. AD 1200 - 1400, depicted seated with the characteristic slit eyes and pronounced nose, both hands resting on the knees. Incising on the arms and legs indicated jewelry. H: 8 in (20.3 cm). A pleasant example with heavy mineral deposits overall. Cf. Labbe 'Colombia Before Columbus', page 74. Ex Hampton estate.
