An early 19th century blue Staffordshire historical plate by Clews, England. The central panel depicts the Landing of Gen. La Fayette at Castle Garden, New York, 16th August, 1824. The central image depicts a group of ships, and small boats outside the fort. The lower portion shows a six cannon salute to General Lafayette. The border is decorated with a floral motif. Measures 10-1/8" diameter. The underside is marked CLEWS, Warranted Staffordshire, surrounding a crown.
