Description
Paul Jacoulet (FRENCH / JAPAN, 1902 - 1960) original woodblock etching titled "DECEMBRE Japon" or "December Japan". Depicts an elder man heavily bundled in linens with a snowy night scene to his left. Pencil signed tolower right with red peony chop seal mark. Stamped title to lower right with black chop seals of engraver Kentaro Maeda and printer Yoshizo Onotera. Publised May 1953. Mounted in a gold tone frame with fabric mattingbehind a glass screen. Measures 16" height by 12 1/2" width plus 3 1/2" frame and mat. Provenance: Acquired from a Palm Beach, Florida estate. Originally purchased by the estate at Robert C. Eldred Co., Inc. "Printsof Paul Jacoulet" auction; August 20, 1997; lot 145.
