November 8, 1863-Dated Civil War Period, Political & Black History Content Handwriten Letter, Chester, New Hampshire, Choice Very Fine.
Original Handwritten Letter, 2 pages, measuring 5.25” x 7.75”, by Cyrillus Paige to William Carter. Letter fold, fully written on both sides on light blue lined wove period paper. This very personal and great content period Letter mentions Paige’s wife’s health and asks that his property taxes be paid when due. However, the content is wonderful as it goes on to read, in part:
"... how does the Blacks treat the Democrats since the Election - will they Banish you all or will they in their wrath Remember Mercy and spare us a little longer while they dig around us as the people of old did around the barren fig trees that we may bear abolition fruit and Glorify Old Abe". Also mentions, “the Draft in New England has proved a failure...”.
