**First Time At Auction**

Mieczyslaw Antuszewicz (Polish, b. 1927), two untitled wooden masks, ca. mid 20th century CE. A pair of fun wooden masks, both signed on the versos, hand-carved and decorated with applied metal elements like hooks, nails, and spikes. One has what appears to be a bannister finial serving as a whimsical hat. Both figures have their mouths open, as if singing or gasping in shock. Antuszewicz is a prominent Polish artist who has worked in a variety of mediums. In addition to being a sculptor, he is also a painter and playwright. Size of largest: 6.4" W x 18" H (16.3 cm x 45.7 cm)

Provenance: private Gordon collection, Los Angeles, California, USA, acquired 1960s

Condition
Dark patina on wooden and metal surfaces indicative of age. Small nicks and chips but overall in excellent condition. Both are signed by the artist on the undecorated versos.
