**First Time At Auction**

Southeast Asia, Indonesia, Bali, ca. mid-20th century CE. A playful, striking Barong mask with a long ribbon tongue. The mask itself is wood, with tusks and huge canines extending from its mouth and dramatic red, white, black, and gold painted flames and other decorations on the face. This Barong is a lion-like creature who is king of the spirits and leader of the hosts of the good in Balinese mythology. Size (not including ribbon): 9.4" W x 8.4" H (23.9 cm x 21.3 cm)

Condition
One ear is lost. Small chips and scratches commensurate with age and handling. Ribbon is slightly discolored. Overall in fine condition aside from the loss of the ear with very bright pigment. Hook has been attached to upper back for display.
