STAMPED "MT. CRAWFORD / VA.", SHENANDOAH VALLEY OF VIRGINIA STONEWARE JUG, salt-glazed, "1" gallon capacity mark, slight ovoid form with ringed mouth and strap handle. The shop of George W. Duey (1831-1903) and James Madison Shinnick (1813-1881). 1870-1880. 11 1/2" H.
Area of chipping to mouth, shallow chip to edge of handle and several at base, hairline from upper handle terminal to base.
