A Ghana Pottery Figure
An ancient Koma terracotta in the form of a standing figure facing forwards with open mouth and body decoration, the foreshortened hands held to the sides, the whole with fine surface indicating that it was excavated.
Terracotta figures from the far north of Ghana in the Koma region, date from the 14th to the 18th centuries. The culture that created these figures was related to a complex that reached as far as parts of the Ivory Coast. The figures are often crudely rendered and were likely used in a mortuary context. Accompanied by a TL test.
