Bamileke Peoples Juju Headdress, Feathers, fiber, cotton cloth, string, 32 inches in diameter, Tyn or feather "Ju Ju" Headdress from the Bamoun or Bamileke people, Cameroon, West Africa. Such headdress have been termed “Ju Ju” hats by collectors here in the west, traditionally such a feather headdress is known as Tyn, which translates as “feather” in the local language. Locally such bright, colorful Tyn are valued in the Bamileke Kingdom as status objects and as symbols of prosperity. Provenance: Boca Raton Museum of Art
