Bil Baird (American, 1904-19870) vintage hand-carved and painted matador puppet in traditional costume, with hole on top of head for strings; Baird,a prominent puppeteer in the 1950s-60s, performed the famous "The Lonely Goatherd" sequence in the film "The Sound of Music," and his creations were found in numerous World's Fairs and Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades. 19" H. Some paint wear, color bleed and fading to cloth, rod partially and strings fully cut away.
