Description
Bil Baird (American, 1904-19870) vintage hand-carved and painted matador on horseback puppet, in traditional costume; Baird,a prominent puppeteer in the 1950s-60s, performed the famous "The Lonely Goatherd" sequence in the film "The Sound of Music," and his creations were found in numerous World's Fairs and Macy's Thanksgiving Day parades. 21" H X 16.5" L. Some paint wear, color fading, wear, and losses to cloth, strings fully cut away.
