Post-Revolutionary War to Civil WarWar of 1812 Period British Gilt Brass Gorget

c. 1796-1820, War of 1812 Period. Gilt Brass Gorget. British. Body engraved with a an Ornate Crowned "GR". Choice Extremely Fine.
This impressive a mostly brilliant gilt brass gorget measures 4.5" tall x 3.5" w, with the face engraved with the British Royal Crowned "GR" cipher, with laurel branches on either side. There is some trivial reddish spotting on the front and has red silk ribbon rosettes attached and lined with soft leather that is not attached. A scarce example that is of museum quality. Ex: John J. Ford, Jr. Collection Part VII, January 2005, Lot 320.
