Description
Pre-Columbian Quimbaya culture (Colombia, 100 BCE-700 CE). A fine polychrome pottery aryballos, decorated with sophisticated negative-resist geometrics in black and red in stratified bands running vertically and diagonally with the vessel's form. Includes an ornate collar beneath the flared rim, with an applied long wavy band, plus three applied loop handles. Measures 12.25 x 10 inches.
Condition
Good condition overall, noting a couple of chips to the flared rim, general fading and toning commensurate with age. A remarkable example.
