Description
Magna Graecia, South Italic colonies, Apulian or Campanian, ca. 4th century BCE. A fine wheel-thrown oinochoe (pouring vessel) with a tiered foot, an inverted, elongated, piriform body with dozens of well-defined ribs, a rounded shoulder, a tubular neck with a trefoil pouring spout, and a high strap handle with a pronounced central ridge joining rim to shoulder. The majority of the body's exterior and the interior of the spout are colored with a lustrous jet-black glaze. Quite sizeable! Size: 4.625" in diameter x 11.625" H (11.7 cm x 29.5 cm)
