Latin America, Mexico, ca. early 20th century CE. An adorable hand-carved wooden horse with four carved mortises for legs, a lengthy body, and a large, downward-sloping tail. The prominent head is detailed with eyes, harness, and mane painted in black pigment, and ears, nostrils, and mouth painted in red. The base color of the figure is a creamy white hue, with some areas of blue pigmentation across the body. Size: 17.75" L x 6.375" H (45.1 cm x 16.2 cm).

Original legs missing. Small repair to front of chest. Surface wear and abrasions commensurate with age, small chips to leg mortises, tail, body, and head, with some small hairline fissures, and fading / darkening to pigmentation. Light earthen deposits throughout. Old inventory label beneath abdomen.
