Description
Colonial America
c. 1680 "Bill" Style Halberd Head with Maker's Mark
c. 1680 Late 17th Century Colonial to Revolutionary War Era Use, Rare Blacksmith-Forged Iron "Bill" Style Halberd Head, With a Maker's Mark and Spike, Choice Very Fine.
An extremely rare style Blacksmith-Forged Iron Halberd Head that measures about 12.5" long, its blade being about 9" with an unusual straight 4.5" spike at the side for catching saddle straps on the back portion. Maker's mark appears to be initials on the blade (maker unknown). Rich original natural even surface deep gray-brown patina. This specimen being of a most unusual design of a Continental style that projects a very intimidating and scary appearance for such a heavy forged piece. Such attributes make this example great for display in any early military weapon collection.
