Pre-Columbian, North Coast Peru, Chavin, ca. 900 to 500 BCE. A large discoid mace head, hand-carved from a creamy beige stone, with a central socketing hole, a wide body, and flared edges on the top and bottom rims. This mace head would have been mounted atop a slender wooden pole and used in battle, though this example does not show signs of such combative involvement. Custom 3D-printed display stand included. Size: 3.625" W x 2.375" H (9.2 cm x 6 cm); 4" H (10.2 cm) on included custom stand.
