An English Tall Case Clock by John Lawson of Newton

Item Details

Description

A Regency Period example with an oak case which features crossbanded lower panel and door, fluted quarter columns, and a bonnet with fluted pilasters, eglomise panel, scroll work, and turned finials. The brass dial is signed and features both Roman and Arabic numerals, and a moon face. Brass eight day movement with bell.

Dimensions: 18" at the widest, 9" deep, overall height is 88".

Provenance: From a New Jersey collection.

Condition

One foot is mismatched. The case shows expected wear including some shrinkage cracks, and one of the back panels is detached but present; the eglomise has wear to the decoration as pictured; the scrolled crest is alligatored. We can not guarantee functionality.
