Description
Early Cincinnati Limoges style flat sided vase with barn swallow decoration done by an unknown artist, circa 1882. Grasses adorn the back side. The shape is one common to Rookwood in a slightly larger size but the piece itself could have come from Coultry or Dallas prior to Rookwood. The birds are nicely drawn but we joke that access to Rookwood or Matt Morgan required the ability to paint swallows so that doesn’t help. Height is 9 1/4 inches. Fine overall crazing and minor wear to gold at rim and foot.
