Description
A beautiful and large Chinese cloisonné enameled box with 5 old jade plaques mounted on the cover. Decorated groups of big lions and baby lions playing, which are called"Tai Shi Shao Shi". It means good fortune passing down from generation to generation. The four smaller jade plaques are carved with children figures. Four Children in Chinese implies "Sihai", which implies anywhere in the world. The center jade piece is a beautifully carved butterfly. Butterfly is a symbol of change in life. These five jade pieces were possibly from the Ming Dynasty. Both the cover and the box are fully enameled inside with sacred lotus and the Eight Treasures of the Buddhism. The bottom of the box is also fully enameled and marked with a Sacred Lotus. It has a nice heavy weight of 1803 grams (about 4 lbs). The diameter of the box is 9.25” (23.5 cm). Very good condition with no damage.
