Description
1580 Albertus Magnus SECRETS Magic Herbal Cures Potions Alchemy Michael Scot

“Do there exist many worlds, or is there but a single world? This is one of the most noble and exalted questions in the study of Nature.”

– Albertus Magnus

Albertus Magnus was a 13th-century Dominican friar known for his contributions to philosophy and natural sciences such as mathematics, astronomy, and metaphysics. His work represents the entirety of European knowledge from the 13th-century, particularly in pairing Aristotelian knowledge with Christian doctrine.

This exceedingly rare 16th-century printing is of the secrets of Albertus Magnus includes his theories on alchemy, magic, occult sciences, and herbal cures. In addition to Albert’s secrets of nature, this book contains philosophical works of Scottish scholar Michael Scot. Though, curiously, Albertus spoke critically of Scot saying “Scot, in very deed, knew not natural philosophy, nor rightly understood the books of Aristotle.” (Brown, 127).
