Description
Greece, ca. 330 B.C. With elongated handle turned at the top to join the spout, the pear shaped body elaborately decorated with grape vines and tendrils in added red, white and yellow pigment. Height 7". Gnathia ware is so named as it was first found at the Apulian site of Egnathia, where the black glaze ware is often decorated with surface applied floral and geometric motifs.
