Hand-written document setting forth the terms of a debt bond of ten thousand dollars to be paid to then governor of Virginia, later President James Monroe. The four debtors include James Barnett, James Craig, James Reaburn, and Robert King. Dated February 1801. Special terms are set forth regarding Mr. Barnett, recently appointed sheriff of Montgomery County by a commission from the Governor, presumably James Monroe. Framed with glass on both sides so verso can be read. Frame: approx.25" x 20".
