Description
Tibetan thangka, hand painted on canvas with a multicolor silk frame and yellow silk overlay, depicting the 'Bhavacakra' or the Wheel of Becoming, the wheel is held by Yama, the judge of the dead, who turns the wheel, with two Bodhisattvas floating amidst auspicious cloud forms above, and with an inscription below; this painting has many symbolic interpretations, the most basic being a representation of the Buddhist view of existence as a cycle of life, death, rebirth, and the eventual attainment of enlightenment with the help of the Buddha, 12.75"h x 9.7"w; overall size with support rod 30.5"h x 24.75"w.
