Description
A rare and fascinating Cult object used as part of initiation ceremonies by the Bwami Secret Society, among the Lega peoples of the Congo, central Africa. Such objects are little documented and rare, their esoteric meaning and traditional uses were not shared with the uninitiated. Lega peoples, Congo, central Africa. Ex Rev. Lawson Mooney, Director Catholic Aid Agencies prior to 1965, Ex Dr. Kenneth Aldeman, director of USAID Zaire prior to 1976. The sculpture measures 9.75 inches tall.
