Buona copia della seconda edizione, completo delle belle tavole che descrivono scene di mongolfiere e insieme al secondo tomo talvolta venduto separatamente. Si tratta della prima cronaca contemporanea del primo viaggio aereo. Nel giugno del 1783, i fratelli Montgolfier lanciarono un pallone sopra Annonay. "Questa impresa, tuttavia, è stata superata a settembre quando hanno lanciato con successo un pallone che trasportava una pecora, un gallo e un'anatra, e ancora più sensazionalmente [il 21 novembre]. Quando, dopo alcuni esperimenti vincolati, Pilâtre de Rozier, accompagnato dal Il Marchese d'Arlandes fece il primo viaggio aereo nella storia e salì dal castello della Muette nel Bois de Boulogne, sostenne il volo per cinque miglia e mezzo attraverso Parigi e scese dopo venticinque minuti sulla periferia della città "(PMM). L'esperimento, a cui hanno assistito, tra gli altri, il Delfinato e Benjamin Franklin, segna il vero inizio della storia del volo con equipaggio. Good copy of the second edition, complete with beautiful plates describing scenes of hot air balloons and together with the second tome sometimes sold separately.The present work is a very early edition of the first contemporary chronicle of the first aerial voyage. In June of 1783, the Montgolfier brothers launched a balloon over Annonay. "This feat, however, was surpassed in September when they successfully launched a balloon carrying a sheep, a cock and a duck, and even more sensationally [on November 21] ... when, after some tethered experiments, Pilâtre de Rozier, accompanied by the Marquis d'Arlandes, made the first aerial voyage in history. They ascended from the Château de la Muette in the Bois de Boulogne, sustained their flight for five-and-a-half miles across Paris and descended after twenty-five minutes on the outskirts of the city" (PMM). The experiment, which was witnessed by, amongst many others, the Dauphin and Benjamin Franklin, marks the real beginning of the history of manned flight. The account by Faujas de Saint-Fond details both the event itself and the theoretical and practical science which went into making the flights a success.
