Revolutionary War British Royal Navy Flintlock Long Sea Service Pistol in Its Original Flintlock Configuration
c. 1777-1780 Revolutionary War Era, British Royal Navy Flintlock Long Sea Service Pistol, Choice Fine.
This British Military Royal Navy Flintlock Long Sea Service Pistol has a 12", .56 cal. round steel barrel marked with 2 Tower Proofs. Its all steel parts have light salt and pepper fine pitting, with Brass regulation furniture. Lock is marked, "TOWER" a "CROWN" over "GR" (King George III) and a "CROWN" over "2" (Government Ownership mark and the Inspector to the East India Company). Replacement wood ramrod. The stock is marked just above the rear of the lock with the early Stores Keeper's mark, remnants of multiple inspector's stamps in the stock but some are hard to see. The stock is solid with a chip missing on the upper right edge of barrel tang, and with a small repaired area at the left side of the muzzle, minor scratches and dings from years of actual use in service. This Pistol is in it's original Flintlock configuration, measuring 19.5" overall length. A nice, attractive scarce Sea Service Pistol that was definitely used in active service. Overall, in good mechanical working order. This Pistol may have seen service in the American Revolutionary War, possibly the Battle of Trafalgar, and/or the War of 1812.
